“A bit in the mouth of a horse controls the whole horse. A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds. A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything—or destroy it!” James 3:3-5 MSG
head…heart…mouth (repeat)
head…heart…mouth (repeat)
head…heart…mouth (repeat)
With a word I can accomplish (or destroy) nearly anything.
Why then do I so freely give them out? It pops in my head – it comes out of my mouth.
‘Will it hurt or help?’
is not a thought that slows down the quick release of the word. And once out, I have the hardest time getting it back in no matter what my heart wants to do.
If only I could actively get my heart involved earlier in the process.
“Lord, let my heart which is set on You be an active filter for my words as they move from head to mouth.”
