“Dear friends, you are like foreigners and strangers in this world. I beg you to avoid the evil things your bodies want to do that fight against your soul. People who do not believe are living all around you and might say that you are doing wrong. Live such good lives that they will see the good things you do and will give glory to God on the day when Christ comes again.”
1 Peter 2:11-12 NCV
What if I were able to step outside of myself?
What would I see?
Would I see the good, the bad, and the ugly?
Or would I just see the good?
I would most likely see good even when my cup is shaken and something nasty comes out because you see, I know my heart.
I would most likely see good even when there was a slip in my motivation, or my integrity, or my moral compass.
Remember, I have the advantage of seeing my heart.
I would see good because I know my heart is set on God and even though I’m not perfect, I do desire Him.
But what do others see? They can not see my heart except through my actions. Do my actions reveal that heart that is set on God, even when the cup is shaken? Do my actions reveal a heart that is focused on God even when my moral compass gets bumped?
“Lord, let others see the good things I do and let that good, draw them to You.”
